
About the Role
Overview:
The Applications Scientist role involves designing, testing, and optimizing experiments using Lighthouse Diagnostics products and potentially customer samples often working closely with Sales, R&D, and customer-facing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with R&D teams to translate scientific concepts into usable solutions
Design experiments, prototypes, and proof-of-concept systems
Analyze data and interpret results to improve performance and usability
Provide technical support to customers, sales teams, or internal stakeholders
Document processes, methodologies, and findings clearly
Assist in product development, testing, and validation
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
Work environment typically split between lab, office, and occasional field/customer sites
May involve travel, hands-on testing, prototyping, and technical demonstrations
Compensation:
€5,000 - €7,000/mo depending on experience

Requirements
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Biological Sciences or Chemical Engineering
Experience Required: 5+ years experience in a hands-on Life Science laboratory environment
Working knowledge with the following applications; precision dispensing, assay miniaturization, multiplexing, microarray, lateral flow assays, and biosensors
Key Skills:
Excellent problem solving skills
Maintain good laboratory practices including maintaining scientific notebook, accurate and timely documentation
Periodically present laboratory/project activities to stakeholders
Work with Lighthouse Diagnostics teams to determine project goals and plan/execute against set project goals independently while maintaining communication with the team
